The "Le Potager du Roi" or the "Kitchen Garden of the King" is where much of the fruit and vegetables were grown for the French Royalty at the Palace of Versailles in the 18th century.
Apples, pears, peaches and other northern fruit are grown in elaborate espalier in rows.
Because they had a green house they were also able to grow oranges, lemons, pineapple and other tropical fruit.
