This very rare and desirable fig comes from the Provence region of France. It was given to Monsieur Baud's father by a local resident many years ago. He named it "La Bourgeoise "
It is a rapidly growing tree, with large dinner plate sized leaves, that produces a brownish-red and yellow fig that is deep red inside. Monsieur Baud says it has the flavor of a Col De Dame Blanc but it ripens much earlier. Our figs, here in north Jersey, are ripening in August, are large, very juicy and fruity. We are also getting a second crop of figs, that start ripening in October, that are syrupy sweet and fruity.
