Abicou

$129.99

Abicou was grown at the “Le Potager du Roi" near the Palace of Versailles by La Quintinie in 1692 , under the name Grosse Violette Longue. It has been cultivated in Provence, around Paris, in Spain and northern Italy.

Abicou is a firm fig with an abundance of sweetness. Eisen describes it as “…one of the most excellent of the black figs.” and we would agree.

The first crop in July is long and dark red with with a pink/red interior. The second crop in September is long but more round and dark purple with a pink/red interior.

Other names : Aubique Noire, Noire de Languedoc, Grosse Rouge de Bordeaux

Origin: Baud

Available in 5 gal nursery containers Spring/Summer 2022
