Maltese Beauty

$169.99

George M, from New Jersey, has brought back many different fig tree cuttings from Malta, where he has family. They were numbered and eventually many were given names.

This particular variety is GM155 and was given the name "Maltese Beauty". The "real" name is unknown.

This is a dark purple or black fig with a deep amber red interior. It is a prolific producer of figs for us and grows well in tree form. Our figs start ripening in early October. Maltese Beauty is sweet with a milder fruit flavor than some of our other late figs. Mari says she can taste Lychee. With extended ripening this fig will becomes thick, syrupy and very sugary sweet. Maltese Beauty also makes a great dried fig.

Available in 5 gallon nursery containers Spring/Summer 2022
