Our stock for this variety originated in Mallorca and is not well known in the rest of the world says el Sr. Pons. The fig has a long neck and is said to resemble the "Collar of a Lady" or "Collier d'une Dame" when high collars and expensive jeweled necklaces were in fashion in French royalty. Translated to Spanish it becomes "Coll de Dama"
This fig is striped yellow and green on the outside and red on the inside. The branches are variegated yellow and green. Coll de Dama Rimada is a strong growing fig. It produces one crop that starts ripening for us in mid-October and continues until the end of the season.
Coll de Dana Rimada is a delicious berry cherry fruity citrus flavored fig with firm pulp and a sweet skin. Highly desirable fig.
